Why Baptist?

There are many different types of Baptists in the world. As a church we have aligned with a national organization called The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. We are not affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

We treasure our heritage as Baptists. Our ministries honor that heritage and support the following five traditional Baptist principles:

The Priesthood Of The Believer

We believe in Soul Freedom – the freedom and responsibility of every person to relate directly to God without control or intervention by clergy or government.

The Authority Of The Bible

We believe in Bible Freedom – the authority of Scripture. We believe the Bible, under the Lordship of Christ, is central in the life of the individual and the church. We affirm the freedom and right of every Christian to interpret and apply Scripture under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Religious Liberty

We believe in Religious Freedom – freedom of religion, for religion, and from religion. We support separation of Church and State.

Autonomy Of The Local Church

We believe in Church Freedom – the autonomy of every local church. We believe Baptist Churches are free, under the Lordship of Christ, to determine their membership and leadership, to order their worship and work, to ordain whomever they perceive as gifted and called for ministry, and to participate as they deem appropriate in the larger Body of Christ.

Believers’ Baptism

We practice Believers’ Baptism – the decision for baptism rests with the individual and cannot be made for another. This decision comes when one is old enough to understand that baptism by immersion in water symbolizes the forgiveness of sins and new life in Christ. It is the mark of Christ, an outward expression of the inward heart. We do accept members from other denominations who have had Believer’s Baptism.
